She Stoops Final Poster.png

On Mr. Richard Hardcastle's old-fashioned country estate, his daughter Kate is expected to take visiting gentleman Charles Marlow as her husband, but there's a problem: Marlow is hopelessly shy and tongue-tied around society ladies, whereas he is lecherous and brash around serving girls. But Kate has a plan. She assumes the character of a low-class barmaid, in which guise she is able to sound the truth of Marlow's bifurcated personality, and assess if there might be somewhere inside him a man worth marrying.

In other goings-on, George Hastings and Constance Neville attempt to elope to France, Mr. Hardcastle is caught up in a case of mistaken identity, and mischievous playboy Tony Lumpkin tries to ruin everything for everyone.

Those interested in Shakespeare's romantic comedies, the plays of Molière, Restoration comedy, Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward, or P. G. Wodehouse will also find much to enjoy in this classic, which has lost none of its luster in its venerable 250 years.
